Interlibrary loan policy

Responsibilities of Requesting/Borrowing Library

Requested items shall be described completely and accurately.

The borrowing library shall honor the lending library's conditions of loan, including observation of dates, duration of loans, recall notices, and special handling.

The borrowing library shall not lend any materials borrowed from Moweaqua Public Library District (MPLD) to the next requesting patron without the permission from the MPLD head librarian. Failure to comply with these terms can result in denial of future requests.

The borrowing library is responsible for returning loans promptly; ensuring safety of materials; and handling all costs, including fees, repair, and/or replacement in accordance with this policy.
Local Patron Responsibility

Patrons who participate in interlibrary loan services assume the responsibility for all fines and/or fees charged from or to MPLD for materials requested on their behalf. This responsibility will include all fines and/or fees for lost or damaged materials.

A patron agrees to and will fulfill the terms outlined in this policy and all member library interlibrary loan policies. This will include the rules and regulations of the Illinet Interlibrary Loan Code.
Moweaqua Public Library District will consent to loan/borrow these materials:

Reference

DVDs & CDs

Audiobooks
Moweaqua Public Library District will not consent to loan/borrow these materials:

Genealogy material
-
Microfilm
-
Newspapers
Loan Period

Books will be loaned/borrowed for a period of two weeks from the date received.

Videos and DVDs will be loaned/borrowed for a period of two weeks from the date received.
Renewals

Books borrowed/loaned from MPLD may be renewed for two additional weeks under the terms stipulated if the material is not overdue. Overdue books cannot be renewed. Books may be renewed only once for the period stated in this policy.
Note: All renewals must be made by contacting MPLD.
Overdue Fees and Billings

There will be no fines issued for material(s) loaned/borrowed from MPLD through the interlibrary loan service. Borrowing patrons and libraries are expected to respect the terms of this policy. Materials should be returned on or before the due date. Local patrons who abuse these terms may be charged as stated in the MPLD Fines and Fees Policy.

In the event a borrowed item is damaged and/or lost, the borrowing library will be charged the cost required to repair or replace it.
NOTE: It will be the responsibility of the borrowing library to seek reimbursement for all charges from the local patron. Failure to pay charges for damaged or lost materials could result in denial of future requests.

The Moweaqua Public Library District will do its best honor any requests from requesting libraries that designate items to be delivered within 24 hours.
Miscellaneous Information

The interlibrary loan service is a library-to-library service.

All fees that are due to MPLD will be conducted in the same manner as outlined above.

Member libraries will be billed for fees incurred by their patrons as outlined in this policy.
